I’m 29 years old and looking to begin a new life somewhere where I can live closer to the earth. Vegetables seem to keep my health strongest above all the other foods so it seems time that I should begin giving this form of goodness back to the world. A small shed on the property would be helpful to stay dry for some time. I’d really just like to go through the spring till end of fall growing to get a feel for doing it on my own. I have no means to afford purchasing land, but it seems there is so much unused land already owned that it makes more sense to reach out here for people who want to see something good happen to their property. Over the years I’ve only ever volunteered for farms and I no longer want to give such long hours for no compensation. I’d rather grow the food and sell what I can.
Who I am and What I'm looking for:
Volunteered at Green Fire Farm Hoopa, CA, 7 acres organic vegetable crops. One Song Farm, Kilauea, HI doing 1/2 acre market garden work. Peace Corps Volunteer in Agro-forestry, Senegal, West Africa. Rural subsistence living, teaching of vegetable cultivation and raising fruit trees.
Crops preferred to work with:
Short term plans for the land / farm business:
I’d like to grow a farm business in the future. Now I’m looking to live very simple and cultivate 1 acre to support my food needs and have enough to sell or trade for other goods.
