We are a 66-year-old couple from Alaska looking for small acreage with housing on-site, for small-scale production of organic seed, vegetables, fruit and small livestock.
We have decades of experience growing food and garden seeds along the north Pacific coast, specializing in crops for cool, moist climates. This has included educating others to do the same, supplying them with the seed and "starter" small livestock to get started, while offering advice and encouragement along the way. We are willing to consider a range of related possibilities, as flexibility and adaptability are essential in these challenging times.
A lifetime of growing most vegetable crops, some fruits, goats, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys and the occassional cow or steer. Between the two of us, we've grown food from western Oregon to Kodiak Alaska, usually emphasizing hands-on, low-tech organic methods.
Food and fibre for ourselves and for a few nearby clients. Production of organic garden seed (and educating folks how best to use it to enhance their own food security and health) is one of the best ways to strengthen our neighborhood or community. This can include some farmer's markets and teaching, provided that such is safely possible in this time of covid.
