Seeking Purchase or Lease: 5-10 acres of Certified Organic land in Western Washington
Description:
I am a re-emerging medicinal herb farmer looking for a creative way to access certified (or able to be certified) organic farmland.
Who I am and What I'm looking for:
I am a re-emerging medicinal herb farmer (chamomile, echinacea, etc.) looking for a creative way to access certified (or able to be certified) organic farmland. My operations will begin at 2-3 acres in the first year, 5 acres in the second year, with a max production of 10-15 acres. I need a greenhouse for plant starts, and a drying shed to dry my medicinals. The ideal situation would have farm equipment for use, onsite housing, and a lease-to-own setup.
I have 5+ years of farming and gardening experience. In recent years I went to graduate school for my MBA, joined the corporate world for a time, realized it's not for me, and am now going back to the land.
Farming Experience:
I have 4 years of experience farming part-time during my undergrad years.
I have 1+ years WWOOFing across the US, during which time I lived on a total of 8 farms.
I have 4 years of seasonal experience at a medicinal herb farm.
I have 6+ years experience doing intensive urban gardening.
I have a graduate certificate in Sustainable Food & Ag Systems.
I have an MBA in Sustainable Systems Design.

Short term plans for the land / farm business:
My plan begins by growing medicinal herbs on 2-4 acres. My products will be a short list of high-demand, regionally-appropriate medicinals for sale to wholesale clients, primarily by mail. Most of my products will be dried and sold in bulk. A selection of products will be available fresh. All sales will be done by mail-order or local delivery.
