Seeking Purchase or Lease: 2-10 acres in King/Snohomish/ Island County

Description:

We are a couple with many years of organic farming and restorative ecology experience seeking a plot of land to tend and grow with. Our primary interests are refining our application of beneficial farming practices to promote the health of the land and surrounding ecosystem.

Who I am and What I'm looking for:

We are a couple of reasonable folks with a real itch to care for some land. We have two cats and a small dog. We have a passion for sustainable farming and fostering thriving ecosystems. Our ideal site would be one with a history of organic production and established perennial crops and flowers.

Farming Experience:

We worked four years helping to establish and maintain an organic vegetable farm and were personally charged with greenhouse and fowl management. On the farm, we participated in or directed a wide variety of tasks, everything from making soil mix to harvesting to market stands and organizing a CSA. Since then, we have overseen native plant and production vegetable nurseries and are currently involved in landscaping with a focus on prairie and grassland restoration. We are well-versed in many farming practices, and are particularly fascinated in and attentive to soil health. We have a long history of community outreach regarding agriculture, having been members of the local Farmers Union, co-founders of a local land revitalization group, and Nick is currently a garden instructor at a local Montessori school.

Crops preferred to work with:

Berries

Short term plans for the land / farm business:

We would love to continue the farm's existing legacy and support its community ties while establishing additional revenue streams, chiefly value-added products and a native plant nursery. We believe a strong farm is a multifaceted one, and would be very interested in maintaining historic clients while pursuing new avenues of involvement and production.
