I am interested in renting at minimum an 18' x 24' greenhouse for propagation growing. Ideally I am looking for a greenhouse with an irrigation system, ventilation, benches, some storage, heat, and potable water. However, most of this is flexible and I am willing to add what is needed. The aim of using the greenhouse is to close the loop on sustainability by growing plants that I sell back to our nursery located in Seattle. This would allow us to reduce our carbon footprint, reuse plastic pots, and educate the community.
The team working at the greenhouse is experienced in different ways. One member is educated in horticulture through a bachelor's degree, has 4+ years of greenhouse management experience and 4+ years of greenhouse crop growing experience, and owns a nursery in Seattle, Wa. Another member has 2+ years experience working at the nursery in Seattle and 6+ years of landscape design and plant growing.
The short term plan for the greenhouse is to establish a collection of stock plants, propagate, tissue culture, and grow from seed to produce plants that will be sold to the nursery in Seattle. This goal aims to reduce the nursery's carbon footprint by decreasing the amount of wholesale plant purchases made from distant states like California and Florida. Certain recyclable materials from the nursery are to be reused in the greenhouse setting, such as plastic pots.
