We are Lindsay and Michael Nolan and we are beginner farmers seeking land for an organic market garden. We have completed a comprehensive market garden farming course (Neversink Farm, Conor Crickmore) and created a business plan with the help of a SCORE mentor and are ready to start farming! Seeking farmland to lease with access to water/electric and ideally including housing for our family of 5. Greenhouse is a plus. I've copied our business plan in the next section but the original plan including start-up expenses and sample crop plan is available for interested land-owners, which I can send as an email attachment.
For the future of our children and community, we intend to make a positive impact on our planet by creating an organic market garden farm employing no-till cultivation methods. By doing this we can improve soil fertility and its ability to hold carbon, which is a small but necessary step in reversing climate change.
Over time, we intend to create a destination for those who love food and nature. An on-site farm stand offering produce, value-added products and prepared foods, and wine tastings will be available for visitors. The farm can also function as a venue for weddings, live music and a variety of educational offerings.
While we don't have on-farm experience, Michael has 25 years of experience in the tree service industry functioning as a supervisor and laborer within his family’s tree service business Howard’s Tree Service/Land Clearing and Logging.
Responsibilities include tree pruning, land-clearing, preparation of land for new plantings
operating and mechanical maintenance of machinery including tractor, wood chipper, stump grinder, bulldozer, excavator, extensive knowledge of trees and plant diseases

Lindsay has many years of home gardening experience with planting and maintaining perennials, as well as a 15 years career as a pastry chef.
Short-term plans include supplying the market early in the season with a variety of vegetables and cut flowers using high tunnels and/or greenhouses. Products will be sold at farmers markets as well as to grocery, health food stores & restaurants. Potential for CSA program after our first year of farming. Long-term plans involve value-added products such as pickled vegetables, marinades, sauces/dressings and baked goods.
